The EMT graduates have earned the following certifications as a result of completing the course work:

  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • First Responder Certification
  • Emergency Vehicle Driving
  • Pennsylvania State Emergency Medical Technician Certification

Several students in this course not only earned their trade certifications but also completed their GED or high school diploma while enrolled in Job Corps. These students are Carlos Benise, Harry Rosario, and Cynthia Martinez.

Twenty-one students started the training program and nineteen completed the EMT Training Achievement Record (TAR). Fourteen of the TAR completers earned the Pennsylvania State Emergency Medical Technician Certification.

The students also completed a hospital rotation at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Burlington, New Jersey, where they had the opportunity to assist hospital physicians and nurses with assessing and treating patients in the trauma center.

The EMT class participated in several off center activities including a mock disaster drill held at Philadelphia International Airport and a visit to the University of Pennsylvania’s Emergency Medical Helicopter landing pad. The class also went on a field trip to Philadelphia’s famed Mutter’s Museum of Medical Oddities.

Thirteen of the fourteen students who passed the Pennsylvania State Emergency Medical Technician Certification exam were offered and accepted employment within one week after earning the certification. Two out of the five who did not earn certifications have been offered positions as first responders and the other three students are preparing to re-take the certification exam. The center and EMT program have developed employer relationships with EM-Star, Keystone, and other ambulance companies.

In the field of emergency medical services, there is a high demand for individuals with technical skills and certifications. Many of our EMT graduates plan to continue their career development by enrolling into paramedic programs.

We wish them well in their future endeavors!
